Alanya:
has approx. 65.000 inhabitants
and
belongs to the province Antalya. Alanya has the oldest tradition
of tourism in the southern
mediterranean coast.It is historically recorded
that the beautiful Alanya was given to
Cleopatra by Emperor Antonius, as a wedding gift in the 4.
Century B.C. The landscape
is very charming, as it was once a fishing
village but has now evolved into a hub for tourism in the province
of
Antalya. Many ancient artifacts have disappeared
from the landscape since the rise of hotels
and
the heavy influx of visitors.Today Alanya looks
like the touristic centers
of Spain or Italy. Most hotels are separated from the beach
by a very busy main road. A
stroll is recommended through the old heart of
the city and to the castle.Boat trips
are also recommended through the limestone caves,
to see the underwater rock formations, and to bathe
in'Cleopatra's"Bathtub.
When
last did you climb into a
'royal bathtub"? Ideally suitable for
single travellers and families without children.
A very lively bathing resort, with many sandy beaches.
